A charter was granted to Union Lodge No 479 AYM at Morgantown on Sept 7, 1870 by the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. The Lodge was constituted with 6 members & 47 visitors present on Nov. 10, 1870 at high twelve. On June 21st 1888, a resolution was presented by Jacob L. Planck, L.F. Shirk & Charles Cosgrove, that the place of meeting of the Lodge be moved to Birdsboro Penna.
In 1968, after several changes of location, Union Lodge built its own Temple at 201 Washington Street in Birdsboro, PA, which remains its permanent home to this day. The first meeting in the new Masonic Temple was held on Jan 2nd, 1969.
Union Lodge continues to be an ever present member of the community and enjoys its works of charity and service. The Lodge looks forward to many more years of service and brotherhood in our community.
